Welcome to Phare International Film Festival
2023 is our third season and yet again, we will see local and international filmmakers come together in Mauritius for a celebration of film and light in December. Sharing cultures, ideas and more importantly each other’s creations.
Phare Film Festival is organised by a dedicated team of local filmmakers. Having created films and entered festivals ourselves, we wanted to create a festival of our own. Learning from our experience, and applying our knowledge, we aim to empower local and regional filmmakers.
With the backing of local filmmakers, stakeholders and the people of the island of Mauritius we want to open the doors to paradise to film makers around the world.
While the festival will provide a platform for the talents of filmmakers worldwide it will also provide a special “Mauritius” category, which aims to highlight all the richness and beauty of this Indian Ocean paradise.

As Mark Twain once said – Mauritius is Paradise. Allow us to share the amazing beauty and talent of this island.
Select the right category for your production and submit your project.
Our event will be live and in person in Mauritius with an online version for those unable to travel.
Our judges will select the best of each category. Selections will be screened at various locations across Mauritius.
The best of the best will be honoured during a special awards ceremony on 15th December 2023.
